Author (Gorilla Mindset) and blogger Mike Cernovich pushed himself into the middle of election 2016. His pro-Trump positions were embraced by the Deplorables.
Via some clever self-promotion, he takes the credit for the “Hillary has Parkinson’s Disease” theory. Thus, on Sunday night, 60 Minutes interviewd Cernovich about that issue in a story on #fakenews.
Right wing media was abuzz this weekend after learning that Michael Cernovich would appear on 60 Minutes to discuss his website Danger and Play and fake news. The final result, Sunday, was a tense exchange between the liberal bête noire, and interviewer Scott Pelley.
Despite the tension, Cernovich said the interview was “fair” and even declared the segment “good journalism.”
“It was fair. They took their shots at me while giving me a chance to respond,” he said in a statement to Mediaite. “I have no issues with it at all. It was good journalism.”
During the interview, Pelley laced into Cernovich over his coverage of Hillary Clinton’s health, specifically calling out a story he published titled “Hillary Clinton has Parkinson’s Disease, Physician Confirms.”
Pelley: You don’t think that’s misleading?
You believe it’s true today?
Oh, absolutely…She had a seizure and froze up walking into her motorcade that day.
Well, she had pneumonia. I mean…
How do you know? Who told you that?
Well, the campaign told us that.
Why would you trust the campaign?
The point is you didn’t talk to anybody who’d ever examined Hillary Clinton.
I don’t take anything Hillary Clinton is going to say at all as true. I’m not going to take her on her word. The media says we’re not going to take Donald Trump on his word. And that’s why we are in these different universes.
Cernovich is alt-light, not alt-right.
He’s also a self-promoter par excellence.
Although I can’t cite any examples here, I’ve caught him in quite a few falsehoods when I’ve checked his Tweets.
This Tweet is dubious.
Which is not to say that Cernovich never does good work. His fans are ecstatic over this quote.
60 Minutes is theater designed to get our attention off the real issues. David Duke, for example, would be a better interview than Cernovich. But you just know that CBS does not want a discussion of Jewish control of the media and banking. The topic of #fakenews is a lot safer.
