Dying 59 Year Old Chimp “Mama” Welcomes Visit from an Old Friend

HELLO, OLD FRIEND.

DO YOU REMEMBER ME?

BIG SMILE!

I don’t know what to say other than this story is heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. Treat our animal friends with love and kindness, just because it’s the right thing to do.

Excerpt from mirror.co.uk

This is the heartbreaking moment a dying chimp recognises an old friend and is absolutely overcome with emotion.

Mama the chimp is terminally ill and had been refusing to eat and stayed curled up in a ball until her old pal arrived for a visit.

The 59-year-old from the Royal Burgers Zoo in the Netherlands would not even drink water until Professor Jan van Hooff called to see her.

Mama opens her arms up in an adorable moment of pure joy when she sees the professor, who set up the chimp colony she had been living in.

She screeches with happiness and he cradles her in her final days.

he pair have known each other since 1972 and Professor Hooff wanted to visit his former charge before she lost her fight for life.

Despite being in a state of gloom for several days, the visit was enough to lift Mama’s spirits.

Sadly, she passed away just a week after the emotional visit in April last year.

Mama was born in the wild back in 1957 and was the oldest chimp at the zoo at the time of her death.

Two minutes and 20 seconds of love:

Same visit. One minute and 43 seconds, with captions:

The Daily Mail and many other major news outlets have covered this story.

  1. Truly a wonderful story. I believe there is something cosmic that happens when man forms a bond with a creature like this chimp or a dog. It is a bond with Nature. It is a connection with the universe. I believe it is this connection that is the source of the emotional joy experienced by Jan van Hooff and all of us who read this article and are likewise so touched by it.

I also believe that it is something that few non-whites can ever really understand.

  2. Chimps are bad news once they become adults. They’ll just arbitrarily rip your face off over some imagined slight. The fact that this chimp has no teeth makes this encounter far safer.

    • Chimps are probably like n!ggers….Some will never “chimp out”…..
I have occasionally seen blacks who actually love their animals and take care of them….I remember seeing a series of still photos a year or 2 ago where a negro was walking down the street in LA (I think) with his well taken care of Rottweiler…The police descend upon him and a scumbag Mexican cop immediately shoots the dog (who didn’t even notice the cops)…The negro was devastated….
I remember my sister brought home a white rat that some asshole threw on a bus to scare people….This creature turned out to be completely loving….It would actually caress and pet your hand out of gratitude when feeding it…

  3. A story in marked contrast to all the other – sadly underreported – ones about the rapefugees stabbing, raping, killing or maiming their European benefactors…
