Alabama Senate Passes Bill that allows a Church Police Department

Alabama is setting a precedent with the passage of a bill that allows a large church and school to form it’s own police force.

Muslims may soon be demanding the same privilege. Imagine the possible outcomes from a mosque police department staffed with Muslims given police power.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — The Alabama Senate has voted to allow a church to form its own police force.

Lawmakers on Tuesday voted 24-4 to allow Briarwood Presbyterian Church in Birmingham to establish a law enforcement department.

The church says it needs its own police officers to keep its school as well as its more than 4,000 person congregation safe.

Critics of the bill argue that a police department that reports to church officials could be used to cover up crimes.

The state has given a few private universities the authority to have a police force, but never a church or non-school entity.

Police experts have said such a police department would be unprecedented in the U.S.

A similar bill is also scheduled to be debated in the House on Tuesday.

    • It probably has a heavy cell tower hidden inside of it. That’s one place where telcoms hide them now, paying pastors for the “rent space” to fry the congregants w/microwave radiation.

As for the Church PD, might as well in this day & age. Off-duty cops packing heat who attend church have been able to stop crazies. A few years back a lady off-duty cop/church attender shot/stopped some crazy guy from further chaos at a Colorado church.

A few times when I was a church attender in the 1980’s, & crazies would enter in & sit quietly until the middle of the sermon, then stand up & start screaming & hollering, the menfolk would jump up & cart them outside & lock the door. 🙂

The Spiritual Battlefield draws the crazies sometimes.
