Countdown to Christmas: The Christmas Shoes

If there are sheep, there had to be a sheepdog. Maybe the sheepdog was out trying to find a present to bring.

The book The Dog of Jesus looks like an interesting read for dog lovers.

For several centuries an isolated mountain village in Mexico has held hidden an amazing secret, an immortal dog that performs miracles of healing. Recorded in ancient Spanish records, it is the dog of Christ, a mongrel stray dog that was present at the crucifixion and which was stabbed by the same spear that pierced the body of the Savior. When a tragedy reveals the dog’s existence through a series of miracles accidentally caught on television, it upends the world, destabilizing governments and causing worldwide revolution.

Meanwhile, a little boy wants to make sure his dying mother has the best Christmas present ever.

“If mama meets Jesus tonight … ” Warning: Have the Kleenex handy.

This is a film project from Film School.

It is about a boy buying his mother shoes at Christmas.
Song written, and performed by New Song

“The Christmas Shoes”

It was almost Christmas time
And there I stood in another line
Trying to buy that last gift or two
Not really in the Christmas mood
And standing right in front of me was a
Little boy waiting anxiously
Pacing around like little boys do
And in his hands he held
A pair of shoes

His clothes were worn and old
He was dirty from head to toe
And when it came his time to pay
I couldn’t believe what I heard him say

[Chorus:]
Sir I wanna buy these shoes
For my mama. please
It’s Christmas eve and these shoes are just her size
Could you hurry sir
Daddy says there’s not much time
You see,
She’s been sick for quite a while And I
know these shoes will make her smile And I
Want her to look beautiful
If mama meets Jesus tonight

They counted penny’s for what seemed like years then the
Cashier said, “Son, there’s not enough here.”
He searched his pockets frantically
Then he turned and he looked at me and he said
“Mama made Christmas good at our house though
Most years she just did without, Tell me sir,
What am I gonna do?
Some how I gotta buy her these Christmas shoes.”

So I laid the money down
I just had to help him out
And I’ll never forget the look on his face when he said,
“Mama’s gonna look so great.”

[Repeat Chorus]

I knew I’d caught a glimpse of heaven’s love as he thanked me and ran out
I knew that God had sent me that little boy to remind me what Christmas is all about

[Repeat Chorus with children]

[Little girl:]
I want her to look beautiful if mama meets Jesus tonight

    • Did you notice the tattoo on Jesus arm? The arm holding the pit bull. Bet you didn’t know that Jesus was tatted up. But aren’t most pit bull owners?

BTW, I got lucky finding that picture. Kudos to whoever created it.

  2. I think matching Jesus with a fighting dog is farcical and insulting. He was all about peace, pacifism, forgiveness, kindness and so on. So far as I know, none of his twelve disciples had ever killed another person. None were former soldiers or professional fighters. Plenty of people here would know more about this than I do.
Jesus would have to be a Golden Retriever kind of guy, if he had to choose a dog breed. After all he could have gone to Africa instead and saved the Coons. Come to think of that, it is a pity he was not born in Rome or a province inside Italy. God seems to not be the smartest log in the woodpile. Maybe God is a kike?

    • Re Jesus: I have a poster of him with a gun. Put that one together with Pit Bull Jesus and we have a fighting Jesus meme. I do have to say that every pit bull I’ve known has been sweet except for one. That one was scary. Owned by Mexicans. The pit bull used to be known as the nanny dog because it was so good with children.

      • Mistaken Christians and atheists! God shows us in the Bible, He was a brutal fighter of enemies and he’d help Christians if they had the spirit and fortitude to overcome, to fight alongside him. I suspect he’d have both a Pit Bull and a Golden Retriever to be used at appropriate times for different circumstances.

I wasn’t at all familiar with Pit Bulls when I walked into my veterinary clinic one day with one of my very small dogs only to find all 9 dogs there were Pit Bulls, a few very large and intimidating. I hesitated, wondering if I came on the wrong day…this was designated Pit Bull day because they could be dangerous with other dogs. I held my little dog close to me.

After the receptionist said “No,” I came on the right day, it wasn’t planned they came on the same day, I sat down among all of them who all were calm and well-behaved. As I waited for my appointment, those closest to me came over to say “Hello,” allowing me to pet them. One “teenager” was walking around freely with leash dragging behind saying “Hi” to all the owners and their dogs.

Another time at the vet, I ran into an American Staffordshire who wouldn’t stop coming over to me for pets and attention. I wondered why she chose me and no one else. Her owner, a man, said, “She knows your character;” which was a very interesting statement.

I look at it this way, doesn’t matter what dog Jesus is holding, what’s important to me is He likes dogs and, of course, He and God do.
