Inspirational Quote of the Day: One by Karl Popper

Learn more about Karl Popper at Wikipedia.

Sir Karl Raimund Popper CH FBA FRS[5] (28 July 1902 – 17 September 1994) was an Austrian-British philosopher and professor.[6][7][8] He is generally regarded as one of the greatest philosophers of science of the 20th century.[9][10][11]

Popper is known for his rejection of the classical inductivist views on the scientific method, in favour of empirical falsification: A theory in the empirical sciences can never be proven, but it can be falsified, meaning that it can and should be scrutinized by decisive experiments. Popper is also known for his opposition to the classical justificationist account of knowledge, which he replaced with critical rationalism, namely “the first non-justificational philosophy of criticism in the history of philosophy.”[12]

In political discourse, he is known for his vigorous defence of liberal democracy and the principles of social criticism that he came to believe made a flourishing open society possible. His political philosophy embraces ideas from all major democratic political ideologies and attempts to reconcile them: socialism/social democracy, libertarianism/classical liberalism and conservatism.[13]

  1. “A theory in the empirical sciences can never be proven, but it can be falsified, meaning that it can and should be scrutinized by decisive experiments.”

The legal drugs industry has ignored Poppers ideas and probably always will. A dubious drug like Prozac cab be tested 1000 times with 997 horrible failures and 3 successes. Only the 3 successes need be published, the failures, or disproving can all legally be suppressed. So if an early test or two is successful, the drug can be legalised. Side effects are then found on real people who never volunteered to be guinea pigs. Many of these real people die.
Prozac failed the first test, because placebo was just as good as Prozac. So only the people who got better on placebo (i.e. no drug at all just a pill which looks like a drug) were eliminated. Then the test was done again with the same study group. This time Prozac was better than placebo (of course). On the basis of this “science” this drug has been prescribed to maybe tens of millions of people.

    • Some of the libertarian economists like Popper’s work and study him intensively. Economists are generally prostitutes to one industry or another. In science, there’s huge money to be made by promoting “climate change,” which used to be called “global warming.”

      • If the medicine industry built bridges, dams or airplanes there would be a lot more disasters than actually occur nowadays. I.e. engineers use real science, not fake science.
Gender studies is of course fake science.

Climate change is a tax on white people to pull them down and give the money ($trillions) to yellows, browns and blacks, to lift them up, like the failed LBJ Great Society.
