Good News! Friendly Duck Cheers Up Depressed Dog Who Lost His Canine Buddy

The small town where I currently reside has a river park into which the city introduced a large flock of ducks and geese. The birds waddle around begging food from human visitors. Some of them paddle in the river. It’s very enjoyable to watch.

In this delightful story a duck has befriended a forlorn dog named George.

Two years ago, George the dog lost his best friend, a labrador named Blackie.

They’d been best friends for twelve years. They played together, lived together, and loved each other.

When Blackie died, George’s owner, Jacquie Litton, said that George was overcome with grief. He fell into a serious sad spell, refusing to play or run around the way he used to.

But then a few weeks ago, a duck showed up. And everything changed.

The duck appeared without warning on Jacquie’s porch one day, and immediately waddled over to George.

They formed an instant bond.

‘We have no idea where this duck came from but he sure does love George and since the duck has arrived George has not cried one time,’ wrote Jacquie on Facebook.

George and the duck are now inseparable, going on walks together, sleeping next to each other in the kennel, and spending quiet time together when George needs a rest.

  1. It’s good that you have the duck park. Sometimes observing nature and just breathing is better than the company of other humans.
