Here’s a shamelessly shameless nonstory that illustrates nothing more than the European-descended population’s fixation on their dogs.
It’s “much ado about nothing.”
This is Mimi, an adorable 11-year-old shih tzu. When Mimi went to the hairdresser recently, she just wanted a trim. She got a short back and sides instead.
Mimi is all of us after a bad trip to the hairdresser.
The little dog belongs to Josh Pitruzzella, a pre-med student from New York.
Mimi goes for regular trims that can cost up to $150 (£115). But on her most recent trip, Josh’s dad decided to see if he could shave some money off the dog grooming bills by getting them to cut Mimi’s hair really short.
He told them to shave everything except the ears and tail, for a cost of just $35 (£26).
‘I didn’t know my dad told the groomer to cut my dog’s hair that short, so when I came to pick her up at the groomers I didn’t know what to say,’ Josh told Metro.co.uk.
‘It wasn’t the groomer’s fault because she was just following orders but I was just speechless when I saw my dog.’
However, appearances aside, Josh said the buzz cut has actually been a godsend in the heat. He also explained that his dad’s motives weren’t purely financial.
‘Mimi loves her hair cut now because she isn’t dying of heat in this buffalo weather, so he also wanted to keep her cool!’ he explained.
Josh’s Tweet gave his followers many a laugh. But in this nonstory, there’s still an ending. A happy, tail-wagging one.
That’s Josh with his “rat” posing below.
